Our
bunk beds were in Wales and our school in Upminster!!
Special thanks must go to Neil Harrington and Chris
Bull of Transamerica Trailer Leasing. Neil spent a Saturday
in December, bringing the bunk beds to the school ...
a long tiring day no doubt. It was much appreciated.
Viking
Direct were keen to come on board and we
have them to thank for the most generous gift of stationery
for the school on Waya Island. A big thank you to Julie
Smith for making it happen.
The
Worshipful Company of Coopers was celebrating
its quincentenary and as a special salute to The Right
Honourable, the Lord Mayor, hundreds of balloons were
released from the Company’s float at the Lord
Mayors Show on 10th November 2001. This fundraising
‘Grand Balloon Race’ provided us with a
significant sum - with the proceeds being split between
our project and the Coopers’ Livery Housing Fund.
Our thanks to the Master, John Clark and all Company
Members.
Operating
through the Expeditions Advisory Board (based at the
Royal
Geographical Society) we were very honoured
to learn that we had been awarded the 'Stephenson Award
2002' by the Young Explorers Trust. This is named after
Alfred Stephenson, a noted Antarctic explorer who had
a particular interest in promoting youth involvement
in challenging expeditions. The YET itself was established
over 25 years ago and has helped to enhance the quality
of the expedition experience for many thousands of young
people.
And to anyone we may have inadvertently forgotten to
mention, our apologies. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
