Katherine
Hancock of MacMillan
Children's Books
got in touch offering of a box of picture books
and young fiction. She thought the expedition sounded
fascinating and very worthwhile… we thought so
too.
Someone
else who heard of our appeal was Joanne Fay, the Sales
and Market Manager (Primary) of Nelson Thornes the book
publishers. What can we say … we were all very
touched by your response.
Sending
‘Good Luck’ wishes to the team, Brenda Gardner
of Piccadilly
Press
kindly donated some books to the project.
Pinewood
School, keen to be of assistance, also gave us some
books.
We
would also like to give our grateful thanks to the Port
of Hull, in particular, Ingrid Davis, the Sales and
Marketing Manager for waiving all port charges.
Yet
another generous offer of books for younger readers.
This time from Meg Sharp from Random
House Group Limited. Your donation was
greatly appreciated.
We
were lucky enough to have 60 beds, mattresses and furniture
donated (and delivered) from Rochester Prison. This
was a wonderful gesture… and to think in the beginning
we were worried whether we would manage to fill the
container!!
‘St.
Ursula Primary School’ has kindly donated books
and bears for the children of Waya Island.
We
had the container and transportation sorted out, but
were a little uncertain on how best to pack it. Our
thanks therefore to David Cross and Lee Davison of Tilbury
Container Services
who kindly came to our rescue.
